Physiotherapist (B.Phty), Director
Sean McCoola has been a qualified Physiotherapist for 18 years. He has managed and owned health clinics for over 10 years. Sean brings experience to his clients from many years as a physiotherapist with sporting teams and rehabilitation programmes. He is result focused with his clients and has a large range of treatment options available to benefit the client. Sean uses a team approach for rehabilitation and is extremely confident with the expert level of health professionals he works with in the Maximize Community. With the Maximize team he is able to add optimal benefit to his clients and their lives.
Sean has been a Physiotherapist for many sporting teams at the local, state and national levels, with a recent highlight as Physiotherapist for the Oceania Region at the London Paralympics, 2012. He remains involved with Sunnybank Rugby Union Football Club and with the Australian Paralympic Powerlifters as a Classifier. Sean is a director on the board of a not-for-profit organization, Accoras, which delivers primary health care services to the community with particular emphasis on mental health.
Karen joined the Maximize Health team in 1998. Throughout her time at Maximize, (she is the longest serving team member) Karen has watched Maximize Health grow and has seen many changes for the better over the years.
Karen is the Practice Maximizer, which includes an array of duties. One of her joys at Maximize Health is the daily birthday calls to clients and staff. Another is trying to keep the therapists in line. In her spare time, Karen likes to read, spending time with her 6 grandchildren and has recently grown to love her regular walks in which she aspires to complete a fun walk in the near future.
Leanne graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from the University of Queensland in 1990. Since graduation, Leanne has gained extensive musculoskeletal experience working in both hospital and private practice. She has a keen personal interest in all sports, particularly soccer and netball and has enjoyed working with many different sporting teams over the years.
At Maximize Health, Leanne incorporates a very “hands on” approach when treating clients and is passionate about teaching long-term self-management skills. Leanne has many years of experience in pool based therapy and helps run our biweekly aquatic physiotherapy (hydrotherapy) classes.
Aaron recently arrived here in Australia after completing his Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from the Auckland University of Technology at the end of 2015. He has experience with all conditions through his training and uses a combination of manual techniques and exercise prescription to help patients regain their previous level of function. Aaron has a specific interest in gym rehabilitation and sports physiotherapy and is currently working with the Souths Logan Magpies in the Intrust Super Cup.
Aaron played rugby union and touch football growing up in New Zealand, representing his province in both codes. Aaron has continued his involvement in touch football, playing in a number of teams here in Queensland, with the goal of playing for New Zealand one day.
Naysan graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from Australian Catholic University at the end of 2016 and has ambitions for further studies. He has a specific interest in sports physiotherapy and preventative health, striving to educate his patients to manage their current conditions and prevent further injury.
Naysan enjoys most sports and has competed at various levels in basketball, soccer, athletics and swimming. He volunteers with various non-profit institutions within his local community.
Musculoskeletal Therapist | Massage Therapist
Jo completed a Cert IV in Massage Therapy in 2008 before completing a Diploma in Remedial Therapy in 2011. She moved to Brisbane and completed a Bachelor of Health Sciences (Musculoskeletal Therapy) in 2014 with ambitions for further studies. Jo has worked with Sports Medicine Australia as a Sports Trainer in the Masters Games and the Arafura Games as well as looking after sporting events such as state and national levels. She have also looked after local sporting clubs such as Rugby, Netball, Basketball and Volleyball.
Jo believes in a holistic approach to health care and that prevention through education, training and rehab is the best treatment.
Musculoskeletal Therapist | Massage Therapist
Collette Larney joined the Maximize Health team in October 2015 as a Remedial Massage Therapist while completing her Bachelor of Health Science (Musculoskeletal Therapy) degree at Endeavour College of Natural Health. Collette has since completed her degree and has ambitions for further study in the health sciences field.
Collette utilises an evidence-based approach and thorough assessment protocols including postural evaluation, orthopaedic and neural assessments to identify the underlying cause of a client’s pain and associated dysfunction and to develop an effective treatment and home care plan.
Cassie joined the Maximize Health team as a Trainee studying a Certificate III in Business Administration. From there she has studied a Certificate in Natural Therapies and whilst holding the position of Senior Receptionist, Cassie is enrolled in a Diploma of Practice Management through AIAS, following her belief in lifelong learning.
In her spare time, Cassie likes to read, eat acai bowls, practise yoga, and is an avid bush walker with plans to compete in this years Tropical Colour Run.
Megan started at Maximize at the beginning of 2016 and is currently studying Biomedical Science at UQ. At the moment, she has hopes of doing medicine in 2019 and looks forward to the challenges it is going to bring.
Megan is passionate about travelling and has almost every country on her bucket list. In her spare time, Megan likes to catch up with friends, read, pretend she can sing and go to the beach.
Britt joined the Maximize Health team at the beginning of 2017 as a Receptionist.
She is currently studying a Bachelor of Public Relations & Communication/Bachelor of Business (Real Estate and Property Development) at Griffith University.
In her spare time, Britt enjoys reading, swimming, hiking and spending way too much money at Kmart. She is passionate about photography and history, and hopes to live in Germany in the future.
Angel is a passionate physiotherapist who loves participating in sport and is frequently seen at the gym. Angel comes to us with a wealth of knowledge from various sectors. He has completed a Bachelor of Science, a Graduate Diploma of Education as well as a Masters in Physiotherapy Studies, all which were obtained from UQ St Lucia. Angel firmly believes in the education of patients empowering them to take control of their musculoketelal issues. Angel is also very interested in Occupational Physiotherapy and the process of returning an injured worker back to work.
